FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin, March 15, 2012 - Mike Shannon Automotive Inc., parent company of Holiday Automotive of Fond du Lac, has purchased the Ford franchise from Service Motors Ford and longtime local owners Bob and Jeff Alexander. With this expansion, the Ford brand becomes the sixth new car nameplate represented by Holiday Automotive, joining the likes of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and Mazda. The Ford sales and service operations will be immediately relocated to what is now the Holiday Mazda location at Highway 41 and 23 in Fond du Lac, across from Wal-Mart, with a future plan that calls for a separate Mazda facility to be constructed on land already owned by the organization. The transaction is effective immediately.
"This is an exciting day for all of us, and furthers our organizationʼs ability to provide customers with the latest advancements in affordable transportation, broader choices and greater convenience,” stated new owner Mike Shannon. "In the near-term, we can immediately provide a fine modern home and experienced customer care team for Ford owners and future customers, paired with our Mazda line. We have ample capacity at that location for people, parts, sales and service." Shannon also announced that Gary Deitte, a V.P. and 29 year veteran of the Holiday organization would serve as general manager, flanked by a team of talented people in all positions, which according to Deitte, “includes many experienced folks from the Service Motors operation who will join the staff of Holiday Ford-Mazda.”
"Ford's brand strengths are many," Shannon continued, “and this instantly allows us to offer the full range of Ford models, including F-Series pickups and popular fuel efficient Ford cars such as the Focus and Fusion, along with crossovers and SUV's like the Ford Escape, Edge, Explorer and Flex. Our team is geared up to become Wisconsin's newest and best destination for all things Ford, including pre-owned vehicles, integrated with our unique Simplified Buying Process and everyday, low, clearly marked prices and other strengths.”
Jim Kuitert, Senior V.P. of Holiday Automotive, who heads up the companyʼs fleet and commercial division added, “The Ford product line has always been a major player in the Fleet & Commercial business. Having Ford join our current portfolio of professional grade GMC, and dependable Chevrolet commercial vehicles, allows us to offer our clients the most comprehensive lineup of models in the area...and more choice is always a good thing. I know this news will delight our current commercial clients who run large mixed vehicle fleets, as well as prospective clients looking for a commercial dealer with multiple choices and options to offer.”
Holiday Automotive V.P. and director of service, parts and body shop operations Keith Mankovecky, has led the Ford transition team and numerous activities leading up to this milestone. “This is a huge opportunity, and weʼre very fortunate to have assembled a great team that is ready and eager to put our full service approach into motion,” stated Mankovecky.
Service Motors Ford was founded in 1911, and is a 3rd generation family owned business headed by Bob Alexander, and his son Jeff. "From our familyʼs perspective, weʼre very proud and grateful to have served the Fond du Lac area for 65 years, and across three generations of ownership,” remarked Bob Alexander. Jeff Alexander continued, “While this ends a chapter in the Service Motors Ford story, we're happy to know that our customers will be well cared for by another long standing, locally owned and caring family business and great people, many from our staff who weʼve had the pleasure of working with over the years.”
