Available safety technology in the 2018 Chevy Cruze
When you are thinking about buying a compact sedan or hatchback like the Chevy Cruze, it’s perfectly understandable that you want to know how safe it is. When you trust in Chevy, you can always count on having a safe vehicle. To prove it, we’re going to cover the available safety technology in the 2018 Chevy Cruze.
Types of safety technology
When you discuss safety technology, there are typically two types of tech that you want to consider. You want preventative technology that will keep you out of an accident, of course. You also want protective technology that will help you survive an accident. The 2018 Cruze has both.
Preventative safety technology in the 2018 Cruze
For starters, every Cruze comes with a backup camera standard. In addition to that, there are several available technologies that can make your travels even safer. Available preventative safety technologies include forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, and even a rear park assist feature.
Many of these safety features come with the Driver Confidence Package, which is available on the LT trims and higher. The expanded Driver Confidence Package, with all the safety features listed above, is available on the Premier trims as well as the Diesel trims.
Protective safety technology in the 2018 Cruze
When an accident does occur, your Cruze is equipped with 10 standard airbags all designed to keep you and your passengers safe.
These airbags include the standard front airbags along with knee airbags, side impact airbags, and head curtain airbags ensuring that all seating positions are safe. Of course, the Cruze also has three-point safety harnesses at all seating locations and seatbelt reminders as well.
Responsive safety technology in the 2018 Cruze
We mentioned two types of safety tech previously, but there’s also a third that Chevy has been pioneering for years. It’s called responsive safety technology. This category covers technology that takes action after an accident. Through the OnStar® Safety & Security Plan with Automatic Crash Response, your vehicle is able to alert emergency response teams after an accident.
