Towing capacity of 2018 GMC SUVs
Are you trying to determine which GMC SUV will be perfect for your needs? Do you need to know the towing capacity of 2018 GMC SUVs? We have you covered. We will tell you the towing capacities of the Terrain, Acadia, and Yukon in all their configurations.
How much can the GMC Terrain tow?
The Terrain may be the smallest SUV in the GMC lineup, but don’t let that fool you. This SUV can still boast of some impressive specs especially when it comes to towing. Most trim levels can give you up to 1,500 pounds of standard towing capability. This includes the SL, SLE, and SLT trims including those equipped with a diesel.
If you need even more towing capability, then the Denali trim is where things truly get impressive. The Terrain Denali comes with a 2.0-liter turbo that can tow up to 3,500 pounds. This engine is also available on other trims and can provide the same towing performance for the SLE and SLT. Either way, that’s a lot of towing capacity for the smallest SUV in the GMC SUV lineup.
How much can the GMC Acadia tow?
The base model Acadia actually provides a little less towing capability than the Terrain. At 1,000 pounds of towing capability, it is still impressive to be sure. This towing capacity comes standard on the SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, and SLT-1 trim levels.
The SLT-2 and Denali trims both come with a 3.6-liter engine standard that provides a lot more towing capability. In fact, these trims all provide 4,000 pounds of towing capability standard. This engine and towing capability is also available on the SLT-1 and SLE-2 and comes standard on the SLT-1 when you add AWD.

How much can the GMC Yukon tow?
For the Yukon, the towing is a little more complicated because many of the configurations are rated independently like a truck. From the start, you can expect very impressive towing numbers. Standard on the SLE 4×2 and SLT 4×2 you have 6,500 pounds of towing capacity. Due to their increased weight and complexity, the SLE 4×4 and SLT 4×4 lose a little towing capability but still provide 6,300 pounds of towing.
The Denali trims take things to the next level and provide towing numbers that could beat many modern trucks. The Denali 4×4 gives you 8,100 pounds of towing capability, and for even more impressive numbers the Denali 4×2 provides 8,400 pounds of towing capability.
