What diesel models does Chevy make?

Are you looking for a diesel Chevy? We all know that both Chevy and GM provide diesel options on their heavy-duty trucks, but what about the rest of the lineup? What diesel models does Chevy make? How about GMC? Some of the models on this list will likely surprise you.

Of course, the Silverado 2500 and above along with the Sierra 2500 and above both feature available diesel drivetrains, but did you know that the Colorado and the Canyon also have diesel options for 2018? This 2.8-liter turbo diesel provides 181 horsepower and an astounding 369 pound-feet of torque.

You get all that from a 2.5-liter diesel, and it’s made possible with a turbocharger. Not only does it provide impressive performance, but it can also tow up to 7,700 pounds and get 22-city mpg and 30-highway mpg.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on this list is the inclusion of a diesel engine option on both the Chevy Equinox and its sister GMC model the GMC Terrain. Both crossover models actually employ the same diesel powerplant, and they put up some impressive numbers.

This is not just any diesel, but a turbocharged diesel. It’s 137 horsepower may not sound impressive, but torque is the real measure of an engine, and in that department, the diesel delivers with 240 pound-feet of torque. Fuel efficiency is impressive in its own right with 28-city mpg and 39-highway mpg as estimated by the EPA. This efficiency provides 588 miles of highway range!

We lied about the most surprising diesel vehicle on this list, it’s actually the Cruze and Cruze hatch. These models aren’t available yet, but they put the same 1.6-liter turbo diesel to work as the Equinox and the Terrain.

With this turbo diesel under the hood, the Cruze can get 30-city mpg and 52-highway mpg for a maximum range of 702 miles. The Cruze Hatch comes close with 29-city mpg, 48-highway mpg, and a max range of 648 miles. Both models will be available with either a 6-speed automatic or a 9-speed automatic.
