What is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison?
The ZR2 Bison still has ZR2 in the name, and the ZR2 will still be available for 2019, but the Bison offers some major upgrades. The Bison will still have the front and rear locking differentials, DSSV dampers, cast-iron control arms, and other ZR2 features. What is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison and what makes it different then? We can answer that.
How is the ZR2 Bison different from the regular ZR2?
The ZR2 Bison adds a lot of off-roading equipment over the already capable ZR2. Both the front and rear bumpers are stamped steel for better strength and protection. The front bumper is built to accommodate a winch and the rear bumper has integrated recovery points.
For even more protection, the Bison has not one but five integrated hot-stamped Boron steel skid plates. These protect all your important components including the oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case, and more. Additionally, the Bison can also be fitted with a snorkel from AEV.
Options on the Colorado ZR2 Bison
Many manufacturers rope off their top models and only provide them with certain options, but that’s not the case for the Bison. You can still decide how you want to outfit this truck. For starters, you can pick your cab. You get to choose between a crew cab with a short bed or an extended cab with a long bed.
It comes with two engine options too. You have the standard 2.5-liter gasoline engine that’s good for 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque, and you also have the 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel that’s good for 181 horsepower and an impressive 369 pound-feet of torque.
When will the 2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison be available?
Have you heard enough? Do you want to park a Bison in your driveway? Of course you don’t! You want to take one out on the trails and put it through its paces. You want to ford rivers, conquer rocks, and take on all comers.
