Hand Car Wash vs. Touchless Car Wash

Car Wash

Is your car due for a wash? Ideally, you should wash your car every two weeks, but life gets in the way, and that’s not always practical, especially during harsh Fond du Lac winters. Hand car wash and touchless car wash options are available to help Oshkosh drivers spruce up the look of their car. There are advantages and disadvantages to either method. Read on to learn more about hand car wash vs. touchless car wash options with the Holiday Automotive service team

Hand Wash Car Wash

Hand car washes are best if your vehicle needs a vigorous cleaning. You can, of course, wash your car at home, or you can leave it to the professionals. Weigh the pros and cons of hand wash car washes below:

Hand Car Wash Pros

  • In-Depth Clean – Choosing a hand wash car wash allows you to more thoroughly clean your car, because you can clean hard-to-reach areas like the windshield and headlights.
  • Cost-Effective if DIY – Washing your car yourself, rather than having someone else wash it for you, can cut costs for you.

Hand Car Wash Cons

  • Specialty Facilities Are More Costly – If you get your car washed at a dealership or specialty facility, you’ll pay more than if you wash it yourself. The cost is likely worth it, though, if you don’t have the ability to wash your car yourself.
  • Paint Damage Can Happen – It’s not guaranteed that this will happen if you wash your car yourself. But, if you wash your car too frequently or scrub too hard, you can damage the paint.

Touchless Car Wash

The hands-free car wash (a.k.a. touchless car wash) is the automatic car wash system that you can drive through while the machines do the work. These types of car washes are generally less expensive than professional cleanings, but like hand car washes, they offer their set of pros and cons:

Hands Free Car Wash Pros

  • Simple & Fast – Hands-free car washes are designed to be quick and effective. You can have your car cleaned in about 10 minutes.
  • Easier on Car Paint – These types of car washes are made to be very forgiving on car paint. It’s unlikely you’ll end up with a scratch or damage.
  • Affordable – Manual labor is involved in a touchless car wash, so they’re friendlier to your wallet.

Hands Free Car Wash Cons

  • Final Result Might Be Unsatisfying – Because they’re designed to be gentle, these types of car washes aren’t the best at removing stuck-on debris.
  • Stubborn Water Spots – Air dryers are positioned at the end of hands-free car washes to get rid of water droplets, but they don’t always remove them completely. There may be a few remaining even after drying.
